Lyquora Sculpt™ Gua Sha
A five-minute ritual that does what a facial does — the part you can actually feel working.
Most gua sha stones are too thin and too light. They skate across the skin instead of moving anything. Sculpt is cut thick and heavy enough that its own weight does the work, with a wide curved edge that follows the jaw and a narrow notch that fits the brow bone and the side of the nose.
The problem
You wake up and your face does not look like your face. It looks softer around the jaw, heavier under the eyes, slightly swollen in a way that no concealer touches. By eleven it has usually settled — but you had a photograph at nine.
That is fluid, not fat. Your lymphatic system has no pump of its own; it moves when you move it. Eight hours horizontal, a salty dinner, a glass of wine, a stressful week held in your jaw — it pools, and it stays pooled until something encourages it out.
The solution
Gua sha is manual drainage. Slow, firm, always in one direction — from the centre of the face outward and down toward the neck, where the lymph nodes actually sit. The stone gives you a broad, smooth surface and enough mass to apply real pressure without your fingers cramping or dragging the skin.
Done properly it also releases the masseter — the thick muscle at the corner of the jaw that clenches while you sleep. That release is where most of the visible change comes from. The face is not lifted so much as it stops holding on.
What you can expect
- Visibly less puffiness — most noticeable under the eyes and along the jaw, usually within the first session
- A more defined jawline — from releasing clenched masseter tension rather than from any structural change
- Better product absorption — massaging oil in beats patting it on
- Genuine tension relief — the temples, brow and jaw hold more than you think
- A reason to slow down — five minutes where you are not looking at a screen
What it will not do: change your bone structure, remove fat, or replace sunscreen. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
How to use it
- Start with slip. Three to four drops of facial oil on clean skin. Never use a gua sha on dry skin — that is how you cause irritation instead of drainage.
- Neck first. Three slow strokes down each side of the neck. This opens the drain before you fill it.
- Jaw. Hold the stone almost flat, about a 15-degree angle. From the chin, glide along the jawbone to the ear. Three passes each side.
- Cheek. From the side of the nose out toward the top of the ear. Three passes.
- Under-eye. Switch to the narrow notch and the lightest pressure you can manage. Inner corner outward. Three passes.
- Brow and temple. Along the brow bone outward, then a firm hold at the temple for five seconds.
- Finish at the neck. Three more strokes down. Always end where the fluid exits.
Pressure: firm enough to move the tissue, light enough that it never hurts. If you see red streaks you are pressing too hard. Timing: at night, five minutes, five or more nights a week. Consistency matters far more than duration.
Why customers keep one on the bathroom shelf
Because it is the rare skincare step with immediate, visible feedback. You can see the difference between the side you have done and the side you have not. That makes it a habit that actually sticks — unlike the serum at the back of the cupboard.
And because it feels good. Genuinely, physically good, in a way that a cream applied in nine seconds never will.
Choosing your stone
- Jade — the traditional choice. Slightly waxier surface, so a touch more grip and control. Best if you are new to this.
- Obsidian — polished volcanic glass, completely non-porous, and the stone that holds cold longest. Ten minutes in the fridge and it stays cool through the whole routine.
- Blue Aventurine — deep blue-grey with a fine natural sparkle. The heaviest in the range, for anyone who wants more pressure with less effort.
- Tiger's Eye — golden-brown with bands of light that shift as you turn it. The one people leave out on the counter on purpose.
- Stainless Steel — non-porous, unbreakable, nothing to harbour residue. The practical pick for acne-prone or reactive skin.
- Titanium — matte finish with a magnetic core, so it sits flat on a fridge door instead of rolling behind the bin. Also unbreakable.
Details
- Material: solid natural stone or surgical-grade metal — no resin, no composite, no dyed filler
- Dimensions: approx. 8 cm wide × 5.5 cm tall, 8–10 mm thick
- Weight: 55–85 g depending on stone
- Edges: four working profiles — wide curve, narrow notch, flat spine, tapered point
- Care: warm water and a little mild soap after each use, dry with a soft cloth. Do not put natural stone in a dishwasher or boiling water.
- Natural variation: every stone is cut from real mineral, so veining and colour differ piece to piece. Yours will not look identical to the photograph — that is the point.
Questions
Does it actually work, or is it a placebo?
The lymphatic drainage effect is real and well documented — manual lymphatic drainage is a recognised clinical technique used after surgery. What gua sha will not do is permanently change your face structure. Expect visible de-puffing and tension release, not a different bone structure.
How long until I see something?
De-puffing is immediate — you will see it in the first session, particularly if you do one side first and compare. Jaw definition from masseter release takes about two to three weeks of consistent use.
Can I use it in the morning instead?
You can, and it is very effective on morning puffiness. Most people prefer it at night because the tension release is relaxing and it does not need to fit around makeup.
I have acne. Should I avoid this?
Avoid gliding directly over active, inflamed breakouts — you will spread bacteria and irritate the area. Work around them, and choose Stainless Steel or Titanium since they are completely non-porous and easy to sanitise.
Do I really need an oil?
Yes. This is the one non-negotiable. On dry skin the stone drags, which causes irritation and broken capillaries rather than drainage. Any facial oil works; ours are formulated for exactly this amount of slip.
Will it hurt?
No. You may feel tenderness at the masseter and along the brow if you hold tension there — that is the muscle, and it eases with use. Sharp pain or red streaking means too much pressure.
What if my stone arrives broken?
Send us a photograph and we will replace it immediately. Natural stone travels well but it is still stone.
Our guarantee
60 nights, or your money back. Use it properly for two months. If your skin does not look calmer, less puffy and more defined, email us and we will refund you in full — and you can keep the stone. We would rather you told a friend the truth than felt stuck with something you do not use.
