Active

One base. Five actives. Pick the problem you actually have.

Squalane is the carrier because it is light, stable and about as unlikely to irritate as a moisturising lipid gets. On top of it sits a single targeted active — so you buy the version your skin needs instead of a jar that tries to do everything and does most of it badly.

The problem

Your bathroom shelf has four moisturisers on it. One was too heavy, one did nothing, one stung, and one you cannot remember buying. Between them they claim to hydrate, brighten, firm, refine, calm and protect — which is another way of saying none of them is concentrated enough to do any of it properly.

Skincare marketing rewards long claim lists. Skin does not. Skin responds to one well-dosed active applied consistently, on a base that does not fight it.

The solution

We built the base first and kept it deliberately boring: squalane, lightweight, non-comedogenic, absorbs in under a minute and leaves no film. Then we made five versions, each with one active dosed at a level that does something.

The result is a moisturiser you can actually layer under oil, under makeup, or on its own — and a decision that takes thirty seconds instead of an hour of reading ingredient lists.

What you can expect

  • Absorption in under a minute — no tack, no film, no waiting before the next step
  • Hydration that lasts past lunchtime — squalane holds water in rather than evaporating off
  • One visible improvement, not five vague ones — whichever active you chose
  • Comfortable under a gua sha routine — apply it after oil, or before, depending on the season
  • No fragrance — nothing added for the smell of it

How to use it

  1. Cleanse and pat, do not dry fully. Slightly damp skin holds the product better.
  2. A pea-sized amount. Warm it briefly between fingertips.
  3. Press it in over five zones — forehead, both cheeks, nose, chin — then sweep out and down the neck.
  4. Wait sixty seconds before oil, sunscreen or makeup.

Morning or night? Hyaluronic Hydrate, Lactate Barrier and Caffeine De-Puff: either. Retinol Renew: night only, and always with sunscreen the next day. Salicylic Clarify: start every second night.

Choosing your active

  • Hyaluronic Hydrate — the default. Pure hydration for skin that feels tight, looks dull or drinks everything you put on it. Safe alongside any other product you own.
  • Lactate Barrier — sodium hyaluronate with lactate for skin that has been over-exfoliated, is reactive, stings easily or flakes at the sides of the nose. The repair option.
  • Retinol Renew — retinol buffered in squalane, which makes it considerably gentler than a serum at the same strength. For fine lines and texture. Night only. Build up slowly: twice a week for the first fortnight.
  • Salicylic Clarify — salicylic with fruit acids for congestion, blackheads and the bumpy texture on the forehead and chin. Oil-soluble, so it works inside the pore rather than on top of it.
  • Caffeine De-Puff — caffeine and green tea polyphenols for morning puffiness and under-eye heaviness. Pairs naturally with a cold roller.

Questions

Which one should I get first?
Hyaluronic Hydrate if you are unsure — it is the version that suits the widest range of skin and conflicts with nothing else in your routine.

Can I use two of them?
Yes, and plenty of people do: Hyaluronic Hydrate in the morning, Retinol Renew at night. Do not layer Retinol and Salicylic in the same session.

Moisturiser before or after facial oil?
Moisturiser first, oil second — oil seals. In humid weather many people skip the oil entirely and use this alone.

I have sensitive skin. Is retinol out?
Not necessarily. Buffering retinol in squalane is one of the gentler ways to deliver it. Start twice a week, apply to dry skin, and stop if you get persistent stinging rather than mild initial tingling.

Will it pill under makeup?
Not if you give it sixty seconds and use a pea-sized amount. Pilling is almost always too much product too fast.

Is squalane the same as squalene?
Nearly — squalane is the hydrogenated, shelf-stable version. Ours is plant-derived, not shark-derived, which is worth checking on any product using it.
