Banded and warm-toned, agate is the one people reach for when they want a tool that looks like an object rather than a gadget. Every piece is layered differently — greys, creams, soft rust — so no two are alike. It holds a mild coolness instead of a shock of cold, which makes it forgiving if you are new to this and not yet sure how much pressure is too much.

Best for: your first gua sha.

The three-minute ritual

  1. Prep. Clean skin, then a few drops of facial oil or a slippery serum. The stone should glide — if it drags, you need more oil, not more pressure.
  2. Sweep. Hold it almost flat against your skin. Work outward from the centre of the face: jaw to ear, cheek to temple, brow to hairline. Three slow passes each side.
  3. Finish. Light strokes down the side of the neck toward the collarbone. Rinse, pat dry, done.

Care

Rinse in warm water with a mild soap after each use and dry with a soft cloth. Chill it in the fridge if you like the cold. Natural stone, so expect small variations in colour and veining — yours will not look exactly like the photo, and that is rather the point.
